In 2009, NAPO Wisconsin participated in 4 Shred-a-thon events across the state. We were able to find some locations already holding events that we were able to get on board with, and we also hosted one again with Maritime Savings Bank in New Berlin, and we initiated a Shred-a-thon event in Mequon with U.S. Bank. In all, over 700 families were helped in safely destroying personal information and having a total of over 15 tons of paper recycled.
New Berlin Event
May 2, 9am-Noon
As in the past, this was our most attended event, with the shredding truck being over capacity by 11:30 and having to refer people to other events. Although windy, the weather was great and the people were happy with the service we provided. The bank had representatives out with us to help and direct. Inside the bank was a large spread of food for the customers, donated by local eating establishments.
Friday, April 17, 10am-3pm, and Saturday, April 18, 9am-Noon
This was the only two day event, with NAPO assisting ARMA at Kard Recycling and Shredding. Diane’s husband Tim helped to get us coordinated on the event.

Kenosha Event
Saturday, May 2, 9am-Noon
This event was a fundraiser for the Red Cross. It was attended well, and also had several groups with tables inside providing information. NAPO was outside helping to direct traffic and shredding. It gave us a better opportunity to meet everyone and get raffle sheets filled out. Afterwards, we were invited back to help with other shredding events they host in the summer.

Mequon Event
Saturday, May 9, 9am-Noon
This event was troubled by bad weather. It started out very windy and rainy, but by the end all was well. Although it was only a small turnout, everyone agreed that it was a great location and wants to do it again next year.
